Fibre
Our organic cotton is grown in India, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. The cotton is certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely in organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles.
Our hemp fibres come from China. Hemp has similar properties to linen, it is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties, is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Hemp is a fast and efficiently growing fibre that requires almost no fertilisers and pesticides and very little water. Often called super fibre hemp is great for the environment and is extremely durable.

Fabric
Once spun the yarn is knitted into a French terry jersey fabric. French terry, also called loopback fabric has soft loops on the inside of the fabric and a smooth surface on the outside. It is a fabric which is slightly thicker than a typical jersey with a distinctive cosy feel. The hemp gives the fabric its nice drape and cotton- softness. For this style, we use pigment dyes, which means that pigments are locked into the surface of the fabric with a binder, similar to traditional printing. This gives the garments a laundered, casual appearance. The colouring happens on finished garments which allows us to dye only the amounts and colours we know our customers like. The colour of pigment dyed garments may fade over time or release the colour when washing due to the unique nature of the dye.

Factory
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
